MN Fishing Report 5-7-12

Fishing has been awesome. Mainly we’ve been chasing Crappie’s. The Perch have also been biting on the big water. The number of Walleyes we’ve been catching fishing Perch shows signs of being a great opener. Get your chores done and get up here and enjoy the early season action. Get outdoors and take a kid fishing. THANKS!

MN Fishing Report 4-27-12

Fishing has greatly improved over the past few days. We are catching tons of Sunfish and a good number of Crappies. With the sun shining again the water temps are starting to rise and that is the main reason for the fishing picking up. The little lakes have been better than the big bodies of water. Most of the creeks are full of suckers for those of you that like to smoke up some fish. Discount trips are available for pan-fish trips. Contact me for details. 218-820-5612. Great time to get kids out fishing !!!!

MN Fishing Report 3-28-12

Good day everyone. The ice is finally gone and it’s time to get out on the water. The pan-fish will be entering the small bays and inlets looking for small insects and bugs that will be hatching in the mud. Look for the bays that the sun has been beating on the longest. Usually on the north and east shores. The Northerns and walleye’s are running up the creeks now to spawn. If you get up here now you can go to the stripping station on the Pine River and watch the DNR strip the Walleyes of spawn to use for stocking. It’s amazing how many giant walleyes are in our lakes. I will post a new report after I explore more this week. This is a great time to take a kid fishing. We have several places you can fish off shore with good success. Take some time and GET OUTDOORS !!!!

Well the ice season is coming to a end. What a great year. We really caught the heck out of them this week. But with the unseasonable temperatures the ice conditions have deteriorated very fast. If you do go be real careful and watch for drain holes created by the run off. Although there is a break in the fishing it is still a good time to visit are area. The birds and game are really active and the weather is great for just taking strolls down the many walking trails. I will be starting to do Crappie trips within a week or so in the boat so book your trips soon!! And remember get outdoors!!!!

MN Fishing Report 2-29-12

We have come to the closure of another awesome Walleye and Pike season. We had a great year with the Walleye fishing as successful of a year that I can remember. It looks very promising for years to come with fish from several year classes showing up. The DNR does a great job making sure the population is in check. We’ve been starting to focus on the pan-fish and Lake Trout hard now. Most of the pan-fish we have been catching this week have been in the 10-12ft just outside the weeds or even in them a little. Mainly using small jigs tipped with colored maggots. The Lake Trout have been a little slow but some fish are being caught jigging white tube jigs suspended in the 40 -75ft depths. Also try dropping a sinker and shiner minnow on the bottom and just let it sit there with bail open just like bank fishing. Thanks for checking in and book your trips soon Spring is coming !!!!!!!

MN Fishing Report 2-21-12

With the Walleye and Pike season coming to a close shortly don’t miss your chance to get out and jig up a few. The nice fish I’ve been getting have been in the weeds around 12-18 ft. Both have been hitting spoons tipped with fatheads. Some Pike have been taken with suckers and tip-ups. When fishing in deeper water 25-35 ft lots of super small Walleyes. The pan-fish season really gets going strong now. With most of them still in holes and on edges. Some fish have started to move up in the weeds. Just drill lots of holes until you see signs of activity. Small jigs tipped with plastic or waxies or maggots will work. Good Luck fish-n and GET OUTDOORS !!!!
