MN Fishing Report 2-29-12

We have come to the closure of another awesome Walleye and Pike season. We had a great year with the Walleye fishing as successful of a year that I can remember. It looks very promising for years to come with fish from several year classes showing up. The DNR does a great job making sure the population is in check. We’ve been starting to focus on the pan-fish and Lake Trout hard now. Most of the pan-fish we have been catching this week have been in the 10-12ft just outside the weeds or even in them a little. Mainly using small jigs tipped with colored maggots. The Lake Trout have been a little slow but some fish are being caught jigging white tube jigs suspended in the 40 -75ft depths. Also try dropping a sinker and shiner minnow on the bottom and just let it sit there with bail open just like bank fishing. Thanks for checking in and book your trips soon Spring is coming !!!!!!!
