If you do just a little research, you will find there are Native American Burial Mounds all over Minnesota. On the shores of Upper Gull Lake, by Brainerd, there are several. And they can be quite tough to find unless you know what you're looking for.

In the woods by "Lost Lake Lodge", there is a barely definable trail that used to be clearly marked. But over the last several years, there have been a number of severe storms that have all but wiped these trails off the map.

These burial mounds where explored by the University of Minnesota in 1969. It has been established that they were built somewhere around 800 B.C. to 900 A.D. This video offers a clear view of what you will see when going on this short little adventure!
