4/19/13	A big storm rolled in yesterday with snow starting around noon and continued until this morning. It appears that we received over 12 inches of snow. Will it ever end? Will it ever melt? When will we see the golf course?
4/12/13	Eight inches! 8 inches of new snow - Where is my garden!! The storm yesterday brought the area 5 inches of snow and then another 3 inches last night. And no hope for warm weather in site.
3/18/13	What a year! Haven't seen this much snow for a long time. This morning we found 4 - 5 inches of new snow with a strong wind blowing it around. The forecast calls for cool temps until the weekend, so the snow will be here awhile.
3/16/13	We did receive more than 3 inches of snow yesterday afternoon and evening, it seemed to snow all night. Total accumulation yesterday was 6 - 7 inches of snow. And it sounds like a BIG one is coming in on Monday.
3/15/13	This morning we received about 3 inches of snow, and it appears that we will get another 2 inches this afternoon and evening. Should be a FUN weekend.
3/14/13	We were surprised to see new snow this morning with about 3 inches of snow. Hmmm, last year at this date we were golfing.
3/9/13	Another storm came through today starting out with rain and ice and then dropping 6 - 7 inches of heavy snow. This could be the last Harrah! Get outside and enjoy it, BBQing is not far away.
3/5/13	Overnight and this morning, we have received about 7 inches of very heavy show. This will make for great riding and skiing this weekend!
2/22/13	This morning we received about 2 inches of light snow, conditions are great for the weekend!
2/14/13	Happy Valentine's Day! Our gift from Mother Nature was more snow. 1 inch of snow now tops the nice big snowfall we had last weekend. A great time to get out a play!!
2/10/13	Finally got a Big One! The snow storm started a little later than the forecasters expected, but by 4:00PM we had 8 plus inches. The trails should be in Great shape. Lots of snow.
2/6/13	This morning, a Canadian Clipper blew by and dropped 1 inch of fluffy snow. The Weather Guys are saying we could get a bunch of snow this weekend. Let's Hope.
2/2/13	A little dusting of snow last night, maybe 1 inch of new snow.
1/18/13	Not much, but we received about 1 - 2 inches of snow last night making it white and beautiful again. We still have about 6 inches of hard crusty snow under the new snow. It sounds like we are heading for a Cold spell so the ice will be good.
12/28/12	Last night brought about an inch of light, fluffy snow. Not much but it makes it pretty outside. Happy New Year!
12/15/12	Rain Sleet Snow Rain Snow! We got it all with a final snow total of 3 - 4 inches, and a lot of ice. This will make a great base for the trails.
12/9/12	A real winter snow!! We have about 5-6 inches of white, fluffy snow on the ground. Maybe we will have a white Christmas. ;)
11/23/12	A Cold Front moved in last night and dropped the temperature 30 degrees and dropped about 2 inches of snow. This time the snow stuck to the ground and with a cold forecast, we expect it to stay around for a long time.
10/25/12	It's white again today. This snow doesn't look like it will stick around long either. If it's going to snow, my vote is for it to snow enough for us to bring out the snowmobiles!
10/6/12	First snow of the year, but just a dusting. Snow on the ground and on the trees, but will be gone this afternoon.

2/29/12	Happy Leap Day--there's snow at last! 9-10 inches of snow have fallen in the Brainerd Lakes Area overnight and this morning. Have you been achin' to get your snowmobile out? Wait no more.
2/26/12	Snowed overnight and most of the day. Overall accumulation was only about 2 inches. More snow in the forecast for this week.
2/21/12	Winter greeted us once again! 2-3 inches of wet, heavy snow fell last night.
1/27/12	A brief snow this afternoon brought about 1 inch of snow. Not much, but it sure is white!
1/23/12	Woke up this morning to find lots of fresh snow on the ground. With 3-4 inches of snow, it finally looks like a true Minnesota winter outside!
1/18/12	This afternoon, a quick burst of snow left about 1 inch of snow. This evening the wind is blowing it around as we are expecting tempertures near -20 degrees F.
1/14/12	Fresh Snow! Only one inch though... now the ground is covered and white.
1/11/12	Hardly a dusting of snow so far today, but it is the most snow we have received so in the Crazy Winter of 2012. It is supposed to get cold so that will help the lakes develop ice, which we also need.
12/30/11	A bit of a surprise today with the arrival of 2 - 3 inches of snow before noon. Makes for a White New Year at least. Be careful on the lakes, there have been reports of ATVs going through the ice, and reports of fishermen being stranded on ice flows that have been separated from the shore. 12/29/11	Just a dusting of snow this morning. At least the ground is white now, all that brown was depressing. More SNOW coming!
12/10/11	No Snow, but we are making great ice! I was on Gull Lake today to check out the ice and it is just amazing. The lake is now covered completely and most of it is smooth as glass, with very little snow on it. This will be a great base for the coming(?) snow. The last time I saw the lake freeze like this was about 15 years ago. You can see on this YouTube video that there were a few fishermen out, in the middle of the lake.
11/19/11	We received light snow most of the day with a total of ONE inch. We had expected 2 - 4 inches, but it moved a little to the south.
11/14/11	First Snow! Maybe a half an inch but snow is here. Just enough to cover the ground and most snow was gone by the afternoon. The Weather Guys are sayin' that we can expect a decent snow by Saturday. I noticed the ponds are starting to freeze. Think Snow!

3/23/11	Winter wasn't ready to go away, yet. The roads are tough to navigate this morning with the 9 inches of snow that fell overnight.
3/7/11	A nice, light snowfall yesterday added 3 - 4 inches of fresh snow.
2/21/11	We missed the Big Snow yesterday, but it started snowing here at about 9 PM and by this morning we have received about 7 inches. This should bring all of the trails back into great condition.
1/31/11	It seemed to snow most of last night and some today. It took a long time to get another 3 inches of snow. Now the cold comes in.
1/21/11	Very cold today with a - 33 F degrees last night. All day the temperarure remained below zero, so it was surprising to see about 2 inches of very fluffy snow arrive.
1/14/11	Today we received ~~3 inches~~ 4 - 5 inches of new new snow, making it perfect conditions for skiing and sledding in the Brainerd Lakes area.
1/13/11	Snowed last night and most of the morning, amounting to 2 inches of very light, fluffy snow.
1/11/11	A refreshing light snow fell today and yesterday. It didn't amount to much but added a nice 2 inches of fresh cover.
12/31/10	Another 2 inches of snow fell throughout the day. We missed the BIG one. Happy New Year!
12/30/10	Very heavy snow fell today, amounting to about 3 inches. It was about 32 degrees and the snow was preceded by Rain, had it been colder we would have had 10 inches of snow. Another storm rolling in on Saturday which will be great.
12/21/10	Another nice snowfall yesterday throughout the day and into the evening with accumulations of about 4 inches.
12/04/10	Our Winter Wonderland just keeps getting whiter, overnight we received about 3 inches of very light, fluffy snow.
11/30/10	It's a good time to have 4-wheel drive! About 6 inches of snow fell overnight. The tree branches are now frosted with wintery white snow, making for a scenic winter view.
11/24/10	New snow this afternoon dropped a quick 3 inches so that now the ground is completely covered. Small lakes and ponds are frozen over, however the big lakes are still open. With an overnight low of -3 F they should freeze soon.
11/22/10	The snow started falling this morning and continued lightly throughout much of the day. 2 inches of light, fluffy snow now adorns the ground.
11/14/10	We missed the Big Snow that hit the Twin Cities receiving only a dusting of snow yesterday. Overnight we did receive 2 inches of very heavy, slushy snow. So, it looks like Winter is here.
10/26/10	Today marks the first snow of the season! A wet, heavy snowfall accompanied by some strong winds added about 1 inch of white to the ground; but, due to the warm conditions, much of it melted as it landed.

2/23/10	The snow has decided to fall again! This morning we received about 1 inch of nice snow.
2/8/10	A wintery weekend at last! It was time to get the snow plows out again after receiving 3 inches of snow.
2/5/10	Just in time for the weekend, we have about 1 inch of fresh snow from this mornings snowfall.
1/25/10	Received a mixture of snow and rain over the weekend; it didn't result in much accumulation of snow. It is snowing this morning. We've received about 1 inch.
12/27/09	It snowed all day Saturday, off and on, dropping another 3 - 5 inches of snow.
12/26/09	The Christmas Storm of 2009 - it has been snowing for 3 days and continues this morning. Although the storm did not reach the catastrophic levels that were predicted, we estimate that about 10 inches of snow has fallen. Yesterday and today, the snow was wet and heavy, so it is not going anywhere and will make for a great snow base for snowmobiling and skiing. The ice was good before the storm and I have seen a lot of fish houses on the ice. Mild temps will make for a fun weekend.
12/14/09	More snow has landed in the Brainerd Lakes Area--an additional 2 inches!
12/9/09	We received enough snow that it was time to break out the shovel to clean off the driveway! About 2 inches of snow arrived overnight.
12/4/09	After experiencing a warmer-than-normal November, it finally started to cool off and snow again! With some about 1/2 inch of snowfall during the early morning hours and some light snowfall throughout the day, our ground is now white!
10/10/09	Early snow this year! Started snowing last night and we have about 2 inches on the ground this morning. The snow and cold weather should enhance the Fall Colors.

3/10/09	Our March snowstorm arrived. With it about 5 inches of snow fell to the ground in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
2/26/09	It snowed all day long, resulting in about 4.5 inches of fresh snow!
2/21/09	Actual snowfall was about 3 inches.
2/20/09	It's snowing! Roughly 1/2 inch has accumalted so far this afternoon. Weather reports state we can expect 1-2 inches of total accumulation by midnight.
2/18/09	A fresh inch of snow fell overnight! It's nice to have a fresh layer of snow.
2/11/09	Although it snowed most of the afternoon, the snow melted as soon as it hit the ground and no snow accumulated.
1/29/09	A light snowfall yesterday--only about a quarter inch.
1/19/09	A few flakes fell yesterday, but just a light dusting. We have snow flurries this morning as well.
1/03/09	About 4 inches of snow fell during the day and evening. Alot less than the predicted 8 inch snow, but it is great for the trails.
12/31/08	Records show this December is the snowiest December since the 1960s! A total snowfall of 28.3 inches fell in December alone for you to get out and enjoy!
12/30/08	Over 6 inches received so far. Still under a winter storm warning until mid-afternoon as moderate to heavy snowfalls continue . . . another 2 inches fell bringing total snowfall for the day to 8 inches!

12/7/08	A Canadian clipper dropped another two inches of dry, fluffy snow.... cold too.
12/6/08	Overnight we received about 2 - 3 inches of very fluffy snow, and it is supposed to be windy today, so it will really blow around.

4/11/08	A winter storm in April! Snow fell in the Lakes area starting yesterday evening and is still falling this morning. The snow fall in the area this morning is measuring 8 to 12 inches.
3/5/08	About an inch of light, fluffy snow fell overnight.
2/28/08	A Canadian Clipper blew through today and dropped another inch of snow. Not much, but it cleans up the landscape.
2/15/08	Snowed all day and only got 1 inch. Very dry and fluffy snow.
2/14/08	Snow plows and shovels will be busy for a while today: we received 3 - 4 inches of snow overnight. It's nice to see a fresh layer of white on the ground!
2/9/08	Received about an inch of snow in the last 24 hours. Today we are looking forward to The Big Wind and sub-zero temps.
2/4/08	Not much, but we got one inch of snow today. At least it covers up all of the grey stuff.

1/23/08	Well, we've peaked out of negative temperatures and the sun has decided to join us for a day or two. No fresh snow, other than some extremely light flurries on Monday that were nothing to write home about.
1/18/08	Brrrrr . . . Bundle up if you have to go outside today. Wind chill advisories in effect today with values expected as low as -32 during the day. Wind chill warnings gon into effect as the evening approaches with wind chills potentially reaching as low as -60 tonight. No new snow; but snow depth in the area is still around 8 inches.
1/14/08	Still waiting for the snow to fall . . . the snow that was forecast over the weekend didn't make it. The temperature has dropped, and it's quite brisk out. So, we're not expecting any snow today.
1/11/08	Yesterday morning brought some fresh snow to the Lakes Area. It was just a dusting, with light snow accumulations just under an inch. A slight chance of snowfalls will be with us throughout the weeknd. Drive carefully if you'll be on the road today since freezing drizzle may accompany the snow shower possibilty throughout the day.
12/23/07	Yesterday we had a light mist that caused extreme icing. This morning we are getting light snow and high winds are expected this afternoon. Received about 3 inches of snow through out the day.
12/4/07	Wow, an Old Fashioned Winter! Lots of snow, roads slippery and congested, snow banks that our Golden Retriever avoids. Should be Great Sledding. It is about 4:00 and we have received about 6 inches of snow today and it is still snowing. Thought I would update this before I went out to shovel snow.
12/1/07	Twelve hours of snow fall that dropped about 8 - 9 inches of snow. This a great start for our Winter Fun.

3/2/07	Overall the storm dropped around 12 inches of snow. Great sledding and skiing!
3/1/07	As of 9:00 AM we have received about 2 inches of snow. The forecast is for a lot more snow. Stay tuned.
2/25/07	Unofficial storm total looks like about 10 inches. We have not actually ventured outside, however we did observe our Golden Retriever standing in the snow. Check the Web Cam.
2/24/07	As of 5:00PM - 6 inches and counting - still more snow expected over night.

12/04/06	We're White! Two inches of white fluffy snow arrrived last night changing the entire landscape. With the cold temperatures the last few nights, we have been making ice too.
11/13/06	First snow of the 2006 season with about 2 inches of snow. The weather forecast is cool for the next few days, so it should hang around. Maybe this is the YEAR??

2/10/13	WE HAVE SNOW!! As of 4PM the area has between 6" to 10". The trails are awesome to ride on. The groomers have plenty of snow to work with, so the trails are going to fill in nicely and will like a table top. Hank
1/28/13	Nothing new to report regarding the trails. We still have a great solid based of ice, but need a minimum of 4" of snow before we can ride again. They are predicting 5" to 7" with the storm on Tuesday. We will have to wait to see what we get. Hank
1/13/13	The trails are all ice with the rain and warm weather we received last week. There is no snow out there to lube your slides or cool the sled. The trails have a great base now, but we need 4” to 6” of snow in order to ride again. It is almost like we are starting over. Hank
12/31/12	Happy New Year! Over the weekend we received about 1” to 2” of new snow. I have been out riding. With the limited amount of snow and low traffic, the trails are in really good shape. I see the stick trail is up on Gull Lake. As for the lakes, the bigger fish houses and some vehicles are starting to drive out on the lakes. But, if you are going to venture out, check with the “locals” regarding ice conditions. Hank
12/18/12	Received about 2” of a rain/snow mix over the weekend. The snow now has a hard crust on it, but I did see a groomer out in the Brainerd Lakes area today. If you go out, I suspect that there will be many low hanging branches. As for the lakes, they now have standing water under the snow. It is either from what water came up through the cracks in the ice or from the rain. Use caution if you venture out on the lakes. Ice depth is still unpredictable. Hank

12/10/12	We had 5 inches of snow fall from the storm that went thru this weekend. Snow fall amounts increase as you head to the South. Do not know if they have started to open the gates on the trails yet, but have seen some sledders riding the ditches. Though there is ice on the lakes, they are not safe. They only have been froze over for about a week. I did check Rice Lake on Saturday and found spots where the ice was still shifting by the cracks. With this blanket of snow, I can already see where the water is coming up through the cracks in the ice. Hank

3/24/11	There have been snowmobiles out since the new snow but I don't think any of the trails will be groomed. Streams are open, swamps and ditches are filled with water, and lakes are unsafe in many areas. John, Gull Lake Drifters Snowmobile Club

3/2/11	Trails in the Gull Lake area are good. On a scale of one to five I would give them a three. I groomed Pillsbury State Forest yesterday. The trails are good but some hills are extremely icy. John, Gull Lake Drifters Snowmobile Club
2/28/11	When on the Brainerd club's vintage ride on Sunday. They had a great turn out with 40 sleds. The trails were great. The corners were a little icy if you got down to the base, but there is still plenty of snow for riding. Hank
2/23/11	We're trying to groom our trails. The base is very icy and rough in places. Corners and hills will be very slippery - caution needed. Frozen fore is this weekend so we're expecting lots of people in the area. John, Gull Lake Drifters Snowmobile Club
2/22/11	We received about 7 to 8 inches of fluffy new snow. The trail base is icy under the new snow, so the snow will not stick to the trail as well. Just have to use caution until things get settled. Hank

1/31/11	On Saturday rode to Harding and Sunday rode North of Crosby. Trails are in great shape and there is plenty of snow. Riding should be great for the rest of the season. Hank

1/5/11	Trails in the Gull Lake area have plenty of snow. The recent rain and snow combination has caused brush and trees to lean into the trails but all trails are passable. Lakes have slush but no problem if you stay on the packed trails. John, Gull Lake Drifters Snowmobile Club
1/3/11	Was out riding over the Holiday's. The trails are in really good shape. The rain that we receive just made for a stronger base on the trails. We did receive about 4" of snow, so the groomers have something to work with. You do have to watch out for trees. The rain/ice/snow is weighting them down, so they are hanging in the trail. The trees are not springing back up when you know the snow off of them. The groomers will be clearing them out, but it will be slow going because of the large numbers. Hank

12/21/10	As of Tuesday morning at 7:00 AM, I measured 4" of new snow. The trails were in pretty good shape for the amount of snow we had before. With this new snow, the trails will be in really good condition. Caution will still need to be used in the swampy areas. We have had the groomer push up water or crack the ice in stops. So, you could find slush, ice or an un-groomed trail because the ice is not safe enough to take the groomer across. Hank
12/5/10	Trails are open. The club members were out this weekend opening gates and packing swamps, but remember to watch ice conditions on the swamps and lakes. The groomer is out on the trail. We will need more snow for it is really get the trails in shape. Hank

3/5/10	The sun and warm weather has started to take its toll on the trails. Trails that are in the road ditches, in or next to the pine trees or where the snow is thin, the snow has started to soften and bare spots are starting to appear. Trails that are wide, flat, and in the trees are still holding up. Unless we get some measurable snow, we are done riding for a while. Hank
1/27/10	The rain over the weekend was absorbed by the snow and froze by Sunday night, Monday morning. The trail base has become hard and icy. It is hard to tell how much snow we did receive on Monday and Tuesday because of the blowing and drifting. All in all the trails still look good to ride and I have seen the groomers. Yes you will fine thin spots in the base, but with it being icy from the rain, it will not degrade as fast. The recent snow should be enough to cool and lube the sled, just ride cautiously. Hank
1/13/10	Rode over the weekend. The trails are in good shape for riding. The groomers have been out on a regular basis. With the warmer weather we are having, the trails are holding up just fine. Hank
1/3/10	Happy New Year! Have been riding off and on during the week. The groomers have been out and doing a great job on the trails. Trails are in good condition. The Brainerd club has started its regular grooming schedule. It will not take much snow for the trails to be really great. With the cold weather many of the slush spots have started to freeze up, but you still want to be cautious on the lakes and swamps. Hank
12/28/09	Groomers have started running their grooming schedule. With the heavy snow and ice, watch for low branches and downed limbs. Caution needs to be taken on the lakes and swamps as slush is present from all the snow. All in all the trails are in good shape and starting to build a base for the season. Hank

3/2/09	The groomers have been out since Friday and the trails are in really good shape. The base is firm, but you will fine corners that will be icy. You can still find plenty of untouched snow to ride in. Hank
2/26/09	By 5PM on Thursday, the heavier flurries from the day had stopped. I measured 4” of new snow, with the weather service reporting 4.5” in Brainerd. As of 9:30 PM it was still snowing, but the wind was also blowing pretty good, causing drifting. With this strong wind, it will be hard to determine how much additional snowfall we received. Hank
2/9/09	The snow was holding up pretty good until today. The rain and warm weather has taken its toll. Forecast is for the rain to turn to snow. 1” of possible accumulation by Tuesday night, but the snow flurries are to continue until Thursday. Hank
1/18/09	The trails are in great shape. The high traffic trails show it, but the less traveled on are flat and beautiful. The groomers have been out on a regular basis. We did get some snow on Sunday, but it was off and on flurries. Nothing measurable. Hank
1/4/09	Over the weekend we received about 2” of snow. Though it started out as rain, the only impact it had on the trails was to firm them up. We had a good amount of sled traffic. The groomers will be back out and getting the trails back in shape. Hank
12/31/08	The trails are in good shape and people are out riding. This is the best start to the season we have had in years. Just keep an eye out for slush on the lakes. With the amount of snow we have had, some slush is starting to appear. Hank
12/22/08	We received about 4" to 16"of snow on Saturday. With the blowing and drifting it is hard to say how much snow we actually received. The groomers are out on a regular basis and the trails are starting to shape up. Hank
12/17/08	We received about 8" to 12"of snow on Sunday. With the blowing and drifting it is hard to say how much snow we actually received. The clubs in the area have started grooming. They are mostly out packing the trails. Though ice is reported to be good on some lakes, caution still needs to be used as not all lakes and swamps could be this way. Hank

3/10/08	Did ride this past weekend. The trails were still in great shape. Yes, we did encounter some bare spots, but overall they were really good. You can tell that the groomers are pulling the snow in from the edges to maintain the trails. With the warmer temps this week, we will see what happens. Hank
2/25/08	The clubs have been out grooming the trails this past week and were in good shape. The warm weather did have an impact on the areas where the snow was thin, or brown. Snow is in the forecast for Tuesday and Thursday. Hank
2/18/08	Did ride this past weekend. The new snow that we received this past week made for good riding. The trail base is in good shape and has held up well. Where the trail is narrow, you will find the base to be thin, or down to the ground. Hank
1/21/08	On Saturday rode to Ironton and Sunday was to Pine River on the Paul Bunyan Trail. You can tell the groomers have been out working the trails. They are doing their best to bring the snow back into the trail to cover the thin spots. With the cold weather, the trails have set up very nice. With easy riding, the trails will last. Hope we get some fresh snow this week. Hank
1/14/08	Rode from Brainerd to North of Aitkin on Sunday. The trail base firmed up and iced up with the warm weather this past week. You quickly found out how warn your wear rods were. The inside of the corners and the high traffic areas were bare. The trails will last if people will be easy in and out of the throttle. You could tell where people had spun their tracks. Lets hope we get some more snow. Hank
1/7/08	It was 40 and sunny on Sunday. Thin or brown spots on the trails took a hit. On the upside, snow is in the forecast for the majority of the week and into the weekend. Lets hope we get enough. Hank
12/25/07	Merry Christmas. We received about 1 to 2 inches of snow the other day. It is hard to tell exactly how much with the blowing and drifting that was taking place. The club is still out grooming. The trails are in very good shape for this early in the season. The limited sled traffic has helped the trails. Hank
12/20/07	Snow on the trails is getting thin in spots. We have been out grooming to help this, but bare spots are starting to appear on the trail and at road crossings. But, all in all the trails are very good. One does still need to be cautious on the lakes. With the snow we received, slush is now present. Snow is in the forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
